When a classroom debate turns into a full-on constitutional crisis, four high school students find themselves possessed by the spirits of America’s founding fathers—with only one period to rework the nation’s most sacred document. In Reconstitution: A Revolutionary Comedy, the classroom becomes the convention floor as students argue the finer points of freedom of religion, the right to bear arms, and the three-fifths compromise—all while trapped in powdered wigs, awkward cloaks, and increasingly unstable accents. Meanwhile, their classmates are caught between filming it all for TikTok and actually participating in the debate.
What begins as a farce quickly becomes a thoughtful reckoning with the Constitution’s legacy, as students challenge outdated ideals, confront modern injustices, and imagine a more inclusive future—without losing their sense of humor.
Witty, fast-paced, and wildly theatrical, Reconstitution is perfect for student ensembles ready to get loud, get weird, and maybe even save democracy... before the bell rings.
