Publication Contest: "A Better World"

Publication Contest

Please consider submitting your full-length play or musical for high schoolers and/or community theatres on the theme of "A Better World." Three winners will be selected for an opportunity to have their submitted play published in the Gitelman & Good Publishers catalog.

As a contest participant, your play will be reviewed ahead of general submissions.

Theme: "A Better World"

Deadline: December 31, 2026

If you have a great full-length play for educational and/or community stages that explores this theme, please read the submission guidelines below and send your submission to submit@gitelmangoodpublishers.com.

Artistic Guidelines. Please consider the following contest guidelines before submitting. We seek plays that...

  • Explore the theme "A Better World."
  • Are written for high-school and/or adult community performers, and appropriate for teenage and adult community audiences
  • Are accessible to a broad audience while reflecting a strong, literary command of language and craft
  • Authentically explore the richness and diversity of human experience, with themes relevant to adolescents, young adults, and the broader community
  • Are theatrically rich — challenging, beautiful, and fun to perform
  • Are full-length (60+ minutes)
  • Not a fit: farcical, parodical, wacky, silly, zany, goofy, or kooky pieces.

Author and Script Information. Please provide a submissions packet that includes:

  • Your name and contact info
  • A PDF of your full-length script
  • Demo tracks (for musicals)
  • A brief synopsis (up to 200 words)
  • An artistic statement or short bio
  • Production history and photos
  • Any misc. notes, including rights info if applicable

  • ☑  I understand that Gitelman & Good Publishers markets scripts primarily for teenage and community performers and audiences. This script is appropriate, resonant, and meaningful for this market.

p.s. If you have a great play that you'd like to submit that does not explore this theme, we'd still love to read it! Please visit this page for general submission guidelines. If your script has never had a production, please consider submitting to our annual Spotlight New Works Fest.
