New Plays for Educational and Community Stages

Gitelman & Good Publishers is proud to co-produce the Spotlight New Works Fest, an annual festival celebrating new plays and musicals written specifically for educational and community stages.

It's built for scripts in development — not fully-realized productions looking for a victory lap.

The Inaugural Fest: June 29–July 5, 2026

This year's Spotlight New Works Fest ran at The Chain Theatre in New York City, featuring 13 new plays and musicals in front of over 1,000 attendees. Selected writers received professional staged readings, direct audience feedback, and real industry visibility.

It was our first year. It won't be our last.

What Is the Spotlight New Works Fest?

The Spotlight New Works Fest is a juried new works initiative designed to spotlight bold, theatrically strong scripts written specifically for:

  • Middle school, high school, college, and university productions
  • Adult amateur and community theatre
  • Educational and training-focused performance spaces

The festival champions work that speaks to these audiences and understands the realities of producing in educational theatre.

Selected works receive professional staged readings, industry visibility, and consideration for future development and publication.
