Paul Lewis

A playwright and composer living on an island near Seattle. I spent an inordinate part of my childhood indoors, listening to Broadway musicals, while most other kids my age were outside riding bikes and actually having fun. Many years later, I decided to try writing a musical of my own. (It took me two years.) Some of my favorite projects include The City and the Sea, A Musical (Theatre 33); musical adaptations of two iconic children’s books,The Runaway Bunny and Caps for Sale, both of which premiered at Boston Children’s Theatre; Oblivion (Driftwood); The Crossing  (Theater Schmeater); and The Lion on the Left.  My musical adaptation of the bestselling middle-grade novel WISH won the 2023 AATE Distinguished Play Award. A member of the Dramatists Guild of America, and an admirer and fan of high school drama teachers, directors and students everywhere.
