At Ladders Inc., sales numbers are everything, empathy is a liability, and the tyrannical branch manager, Dirk, selects a slick new "next big hire" every year to stay on top. Tired of watching hard-working office staff get mistreated while arrogant interns play ruthless games, behind-the-scenes assistant Suzette decides she’s had enough. When Dirk fires her over a petty misunderstanding, Suzette vows to teach her former boss a lesson he won't forget.

Enlisting the help of the office janitor, Jesus, Suzette concocts an audacious scheme: she returns to the office disguised as "Mary"—a wildly eccentric, blind, IBS-afflicted veteran from the Mariana Islands who fits the DEI dream profile Dirk has been mandated to hire. As "Mary" starts out-selling the slick interns and exposing the absurdity of corporate ladder-climbing, chaos erupts across the sales floor. Sharp, satirical, and fast-paced, Ladders Inc. is an office satire that asks what it truly takes to rise to the top and shows how quickly you can fall to your bottom.
