Jen Coogan

Jen Coogan began as a performer, but started writing musicals in her desire to create more roles for women. She was the composer for the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival’s productions of Two Gentlemen of Verona (2025), The Tempest (2024), and As You Like It (2024). Additional credits include The Women in Theatre Project (54 Below, Feinstein's at the Nikko, Spotlight New Works Fest), A Most Immoral Woman (NYPLPA at Lincoln Center), Broadway Bares San Francisco, The Morning After My Family Fell Apart (Left Coast Theatre Co), The New Teacher (Superbad Theatre Company), Mercy is a Witch, Pharma Girls, The Oregon Trail Pages, Lizzie Wilding - Heavy Metal Werewolf, Corozón, and The Wild West with William Hung. Jen and her husband are also co-creators of Broadway for the Boardroom, where they write industrial musicals for corporate events. Her music has been featured in Broadway World, Vents Mag, Prelude Press, Idobi Music, Cliché Mag, and New Music Inferno--among others. She is a proud member of The Dramatists Guild, ASCAP, and Maestra. Jen also serves on the board of Musical Cafe / Play Cafe, where she is the creator and co-host of Musical Cafe’s monthly Song Salon: a safe space for musical theatre writers to share new work, and build community.
