Sally Kinka is a playwright, director, actor, storyteller and puppeteer with a special concentration in drama as therapy. She holds a BFA in Theatre from Lake Erie College. Besides being the 2026 recipient of the Mark Gilbert Award for her play “Power, Money and Sex...oh yeah, and Love,” Sally also had the honor of winning the prize in 2022 for her play “Wolves of Ravensbruck.”
Most recently, in addition to The Haunting of Ebenezer Scrooge, (previously titled A Christmas Carol, in the Spirit) she has also had her plays, New Wendy in Neverland, Murder at Fences Mansion, and We’re All on Stand By, produced by Ashe County Little Theatre. All in all, Sally has had over 50 plays produced at various theatres.
Sally is co-founder of the non-profit performing arts organization ArtStream and recently ran bedside drama and storytelling programs at Duke University pediatric oncology and hematology, as well as UNC Children’s Hospital. Sally runs the NC Playwrights Forum.
